How to Plan a Ladies Poker Night
When you think of a traditional poker night, you usually envision of a bunch of forty something men smoking cigars and complaining about their wives, well not anymore. With the sudden rise in popularity, women have been entering the game and having a lot of fun doing it. So why not host an awesome ladies poker night for all of our closest girlfriends? It’ll be easy to host and a great opportunity to socialize. If you’re lucky, you might even pocket a little extra cash. If want to plan out the perfect ladies poker night, then check out my tips and suggestions below.
1. Make the invitations casual. Maybe just send out a group email or give some of your friends a call. Remember that you don’t want more than 5 people per table, so plan accordingly. Also be sure to tell your friends that they needn’t know the rules to attend. You can give anyone who needs it a quick run through the night of the party.
2. Before the party, decide which poker games you’ll want to play at the party. Be sure to have all of the supplies, as well as detailed playing instructions. You’ll need to have at least one deck of cards per playing group. You’ll also want to have a nice poker table, some poker chips and a few pairs of dice. If you aren’t sure which games to choose, do a search on the internet, otherwise some of the more popular games include Texas Hold Em, Black Jack and 5 Card Stud.
3. Before the actual party, also make sure that all of the players know the stakes of the game, so that they will come with the appropriate amount of money. If you aren’t interested in winning a lot of money, then play for small amounts like nickels and dimes. Or you can raise the stakes a bit with quarters and dollars.
4. Finally, make sure to stock up on snacks and beverages. You can give it a girly twist by providing cosmos rather than beer and also making some fun hors d’oeuvres. Just be creative and encourage your guests to contribute as well.
